SellFable in Theater Walhalla
Theater Walhalla, Rotterdam
An impression of the SellFable “Circuit Circus” performance in Theater Walhalla, Rotterdam, as part of “De Biecht”, a recurring cultural evening. A performance by Daniël van Nes (SellFable), musicians Friso van Wijck and Florian Magnus Maier, and director Andreas Scharfenberg.
This performance researched possibilities to bring the SellFable universe to life, by performance, charcoal drawing and sound, in a collaboration with musicians.
A SellFable character is introduced to the stage where it works on what appears to be some kind of technical drawings or programming code, producing sounds in the process. These sounds, recorded by a contact microphone and processed by computer, merge with the sounds produced by musicians (percussion and processed guitar), forming a soundscape. At some point the drawings are ‘finished’ and another SellFable character guides the main character to a seat in a large installation, and plugs it in. A ritual that connects it to a larger entity within the SellFable universe, that will take its energy, or perhaps reprogramm its digital spirit.
