The SellFable universe unveils its latest artistic endeavor, “Fragile Things,” a poignant collection of three unique relics titled “Doubt,” “Unease,” and “Longing.” These pieces serve as vaults, designed to protect and cherish the delicate emotions that define our humanity. Reminiscent of dioramas and birdhouses, they symbolize enclosed spaces for fragile entities or even entire worlds.

Each vault houses an illuminated engraving, meticulously handcrafted using the classical technique of copper engraving with a burin, but on modern plexiglass. These artworks are not reproduced in editions; they stand as singular creations, brought to life through the gentle glow of LED lighting.

“Fragile Things” emerges as a response to the tumultuous global landscape: the re-election of Trump, ongoing wars, escalating tensions, societal divisions, the rise of big tech, datafication, and the AI hype. These relics pose a critical question: what is happening to our humanity? From the perspective of the SellFable Archivist, the emotions of doubt, unease, and longing are preserved and cherished.

In the SellFable universe, where inhabitants have either lost their humanity or never known it, these relics capture the essence of human emotions. They encourage reflection on what truly makes us human, offering a sanctuary for introspection in a world that often overlooks the importance of our emotional landscape.

A Note from the SellFable Archivist:

In the SellFable universe, these relics—’Doubt,’ ‘Unease,’ and ‘Longing’—are revered as sacred artifacts, encapsulating the essence of emotions that have become rare and precious in a world where humanity is often forgotten. As The Archivist, I recognize these illuminated engravings as vital remnants, preserving the delicate threads of human sentiment that weave the fabric of our identity amidst the digital and dystopian landscapes of SellFable.

“Fragile Things” invites viewers to pause and contemplate the delicate nature of these feelings, offering a sanctuary for introspection and a reminder of the emotions that define our humanity.

SellFable is the art of Dutch artist Daniël van Nes, exploring the intersection of art, emotion, and the digital world.
