Description

“In This State” is a handmade woodcut print reflecting the contemporary experience of sensory overload and our shifting ability to process—or ignore—what surrounds us. The overstimulation of social media, a constantly changing reality, while amidst the noise, we try to figure out how to find some peace of mind. The creature in “In This State” is balancing all this, between dream and reality, between escapism and the here and now. Tangled in ropes and in a contorted dance with life.

Printed by hand on a traditional press with black oil based ink, on acid free Japanese paper, with a natural texture and torn edges.

The addition of a battery with system bugs stamp is inspired by classic Japanese woodcut printing tradition, adding more depth and character to the artwork.

Please note that each print is unique and handmade, with subtle variations in ink and paper. Signed and dated (year) on the front.

Size
410 x 530mm

Printing Method
Printed by hand using hand-carved printing blocks and a press. Because each print is done manually, there will be small differences between them, and both the print and paper may show minor irregularities. Each print is signed on the front.

Why I don’t work with editions, and why I don’t number my work

My art prints are inherently limited, because I create and print them myself. My work stands on its own, and I don’t want to participate in a system that prioritizes scarcity over authenticity. Numbering feels unnecessary, it introduces bureaucracy and the burden of tracking unsold inventory.

Printing on demand allows me to avoid waste and align with my values of sustainability. This approach also lets me focus on what truly matters: creating meaningful work, prioritizing authenticity over artificial scarcity, and on creating art that connects honestly.
