The official music video for Jo Quail‘s “Supplication” is a mesmerizing collaboration with artist Daniël van Nes, known as SellFable. Fusing Quail’s haunting music and SellFable’s breathtaking animated drawings, a realm enfolds where music and visual expression seamlessly blend.
The animation premiered on 11 May 2024 at Dunk! Festival in Gent, Featuring singer Lorenzo Esposito Fornasari and the Wilmink Project Orchestra, conducted by Jos Pijnappel.
I often use hexadecimal code as an artistic and decorative element in my work. This numbering system is frequently used in the computer world, but it can also be used to translate text. For me, it’s a functional nod to our increasingly digital world. I can translate texts and poems into hexadecimal code, incorporating them into my art as decorative elements or structural components. This approach allows the viewer to engage with the piece without immediately recognizing a specific meaning, as they would with an English or Dutch word.
